As educators, it is important that we provide our students with the skills to compete in a world where scientific and technological advancements continue to accelerate at a breathtaking pace. Educators are becoming increasingly aware of the need to bring K-12 curriculum into closer alignment with modern technology. In response, they are embracing the concept of college and career preparation, a method of integrating academic and career skills into a student’s education.
Opportunities for
Educator-Business Teamwork
Educators and businesses agree that we need to improve our students’ career preparation skills. The State Center Consortium’s objective is to answer this need by establishing an active educational partnership with business.
The core of the Consortium’s work is putting college and career preparation into action. What this means is a truly exciting change in how our community works together. The Consortium’s goal
is to have every business participate with schools in the college and career preparation of students. |
|
This participation can include classroom visits, onsite job shadowing, and teaming up with educators on special curriculum projects. A close business-education partnership will demonstrate to students that their education is relevant to their future career goals.
Ways to Get Involved
The Consortium is here to support the college and career preparation you want for students. To meet your needs, the Consortium provides career awareness materials, training in curriculum integration and project-based instruction, employer/educator partnerships, resources for workplace learning, workshops and conferences. The Consortium staff, who provides the training and technical support, consists of educators and business consultants.
You are invited to participate in the many college and career preparation activities we provide. Together we can prepare our students for success.
